  1. Beautiful! Pricey for a tour, but its gorgeous! We got the audio tour which I high recommend, we went when they were decorated for Christmas and I am so happy we did. For us this is a once in a lifetime thing to see it and it was so worth it! Beautiful mansion on and even more beautiful view of the land they own. The drive to the house was long but beautiful! The food was pretty good and the little shops are adorable!

  2. Beautiful estate. You won’t regret. Wear very comfortable shoes, there is lots and lots of walking. Plenty of places to grab a quick bite or dine. To save few bucks bring your own food but you will have to leave it in your car. No big backpacks are allowed inside the house. You can easily spend 4-6 hours without realizing when the time went. The price may seems little high but it’s worth every penny.

  3. Amazing Tour. There’s a lot of walking to do indoors and outdoors. The self guided audio tour of the house explains everything you need to know about the house. You can take your time and learn. I went on a Sunday and it was busy, so if you can go during the week, do it. There are amazing walking trails around and the winery.
Highly recommend purchasing your tickets in advance.

  4. I enjoyed this experience much more than I was expecting. The whole property is so elegant and well maintained. We had a lot of fun visiting the shops for candy and mementos. They have a lot of options. The Christmas decor was amazing and the audio tour is a must. They give you a small device that you easily use for each room and get all the history. Yes, this is over the top but that’s the entire point. It’s the most incredible house you’ll ever see and I’m so happy they’ve maintained it this well!

  5. Very beautiful and historic place. I think the tickets are a bit expensive for what it is, but still worth checking out at least once. The gardens weren’t full bloom when we went, but still pretty. The estate itself is the most interesting part to me. The library is a dream and the dining hall is huge. The guides tell you interesting facts and stories if you ask. Everyone was happy to be there. Complimentary wine tasting was great, definitely schedule a time for that.

Visited for our anniversary weekend. We enjoyed ourselves, but we were super exhausted by the end of the day. You spend most of the time walking uphill, but there are plenty of stops along the way to rest. Bring comfortable shoes!

There are places to eat once in the zoo. Don’t know how affordable the prices are, since we ate prior to entry.

Plenty of charging stations for electric vehicles. We were in the zoo the entire afternoon so it was nice to be able to come back to a charged car.

Overall, we enjoyed our experience and look forward to coming back.

Clean& fun. Well guided trails and trams to travel on. Good food is available at multiple spots in the zoo. Bathrooms are set throughout the whole zoo. And in great spots. The animals and environments are well cared for, and so magical to see. Strollers and handicap electric scooters available to rent. It really is worth the trip. And cheap tickets for such a large zoo. Recommended 100% for any age.
Also, the paths are all shaded by trees so it’s not miserable to walk in the blaring sun.

This is one of my favorite zoos. I generally have a love/hate relationship with zoos because I feel that many animals don’t have enough space in them. For the most part, other than a few of the large cats exhibits, I do not feel that way here. I’m impressed by how large the exhibits are. That does mean that there is a lot of walking and you may not see some animals. I think it’s a good trade off. Prices are cheap. The team is wonderful for when you’re exhausted and need a lift back to the front entrance. They have several education programs and are very involved in rehabilitation programming as well. 10/10 would recommend. I should also add that I’ve been several times and am a zoo member so I’ll definitely be back!

One of the Top Ten Zoos in the country FOR SURE! I enjoy walking around and seeing and photographing the plant-life and floral-life equally as much as I do the animals! This is an absolutely beautiful zoo! Well cared for and landscaped. We love bringing our little boy here and he has always enjoyed himself here too! He loves the outdoor playground areas they have here for kids! FYI – If you buy the yearly family pass here at the zoo, it is also good to get you into the Sylvan Heights Bird Park, which is equally as AWESOME!!! Best bird aviary I have ever been to! Amazing! It is in the exact opposite direction from Raleigh though, but WELL WORTH the visit!!!

We went on a day that it was only about 80, cloudy and a week day. It took us 6 hours to walk the whole park. Food was good but way over priced for the small amount you get. The gift shop is less expensive than the food. The polar bears have never been out the 5 times we have been. I have always loved the zoo and we go every year! Can nit wait for the new expansion opening in 2026! Hoping for pandas! Highly recommended the zoo. Make sure to wear comfy shoes, a water bottle (lots of water refill spots) and your own stroller/wagon! Always take the tram back to your side if the park! Saves about 30 minutes of walking

The Cradle of Forestry Overlook is just one of the quiet treasures nestled on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Today it was closed for ice and storm damage, but a short walk up from open parking you could still view and enjoy all this.

It’s my weekend getaway for a peaceful sunrise, so all y’all steer clear ok? 🙃

My son and I went hiking through the Pisgah Forest (August 2022) starting out on the North Slope trail – connecting to Art Loeb to get to the top of the mountain. We were chased back down by thunder and lightning but for what we did see it was absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful little bridges placed here and there to help hikers over steeper areas with running water. Also plenty of fallen logs over the trail with the tops carefully cut away and scored to ensure hiking boots don’t slip when stepping over. The trails were so well maintained that at one point I even told my son while hiking that – I hope I’m not jinxing it but – I didn’t see one single piece of litter the entire hike and we were out there for three hours.

Beautiful area. Went to max patch and it exceeded the hype. Stunningly beautiful. Saw Elk on the way to the parking lot. No overnight camping or fires at max patch, but plenty of other areas to camp at.

Gorgeous area to hike or walk your dog. Lots of fun hiking trails and the river was lovely. Lucky to call this place home.

Beautiful and tranquil. It has plenty of waterfalls. We saw Looking glass falls and then hiked to Moore cove falls.
It’s close to the Blue Ridge parkway so we took a drive back to Asheville.
