This stop was a nice surprise. There were very nice trails that led us to multiple overlook areas. Many of the trails were paved and easy to walk for the grandmas. It looks like they are adding even more amenities to the site.By Krista (7 months ago)Absolutely gorgeous. For all the hikers, and backpackers! Start at the lower falls early day (at open) take in the lower falls and it’s beauty then take the 4.4 mile hike. It’s trail rated “hard” and I’ll admit, for someone who doesn’t have much hiking experience just starting out and Ill admit am a little out of shape this was a tough one at times. But if you take your time you can make it. Once you finish this 5 mile hike (trust me it’s more like 5 miles once you get off) you can either choose to go down one of viewing areas, don’t. Just go to the bathroom refill on water and eat your lunch. Give your legs a break. When you rested up a Lil then check the viewing areas and enjoy the upper falls, then do the trail in reverse to get back to your car. When you finish, spend the rest of the day on the island in the lower falls. It’s a great place to swim and relax.
It’s got alot of steep inclines and declines you feel like you trekked a mile and you did .5 haha but it was absolutely awesome! All of it! I’d do it again in a heartbeat and I’ll be back to do it again.

We were there late in the day and I recommend bug spray! Mosquitoes were vicious!! Definitely worth a visit!!!By Barb McCaslin (8 months ago)I liked how there was a clean path to walk back to the falls and well cared for steps without looking like the whole thing was developed into an amusement attraction. We had expected to walk a bit, see the Upper and Lower falls, and then head elsewhere for the afternoon. Dune Hike is outstanding. It is 4 miles, most of it in moderate to deep sand. So start early when it is still cool. Hike takes you to the top of Mt. Randall and then over the lakeside dunes to the lake. The hike incorporates a long walk on the beach (~1 mi?) before taking you back into the dunes, finishing in a mature dune forest. The described route is counterclockwise on the loop which is recommended. Going counterclockwise allows you to do the most challenging climb first (up to the top of what I assume to be Mt. Randall, including a final ‘summit’ climb of about 100-120 feet elevation in steep and deep sand…take your time!) and then finish on packed sand in the woods. It is listed as “moderate” and I have no big beef with that description but there are some parts that are difficult so just prepare yourself. It is worth it because it is a beautiful hike in a beautiful park. Not trying to discourage but just keeping it real. It took us about 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete but we did frequently stop to enjoy the views and take some photos. If you were hustling you could probably get it done in an hour and a half. Not sure why you would want to hustle through that hike though because it is remarkably beautiful.By Christopher Brej (8 months ago)Very quiet and peaceful place. Spent time at the park to unwind after work and found it to be a great stop. Hiking the dunes is a great experience, but with moderately deep sand it can be strenuous so plan accordingly. Next to no waves the day I was there, just a beautiful sunset fading behind the calm waters of Lake Michigan. Definitely worth the trip!By Steve Johnson (6 months ago)We came here for the first time for a family reunion. The sites are all varied from small and private to larger and sunnier. The beach has plenty of parking, and there’s even a dog beach. There is a small store on site which has all camping needs. The surrounding town has a lot of places to eat as well. For those who make the trip to the top, the dunes offer a great view. Check with the site hosts for things to do – communal bonfires and such. The rangers do keep a close eye on those wandering the beach after it closes. The beaches were clean and sandy; there was a small ribbon of rocks/shells/algae, but nothing that was of concern. The campsites were clean, the bathrooms had plenty of stalls, running water, unisex, private shower rooms, and were stocked when were there. There was a whole crew out cleaning the bathrooms as we were leaving.By Jeannine Szostak (9 months ago)What a wonderful place to spend the day, all facilities to make it an easy at the beach time. Bring your umbrella or tent, bring your food and that’s pretty much it, you’re set. Bring a good pair of shoes to hike up the dunes, or simple walk along the shores. Amazing experience for people of all ages. The museum is big and has a lot of different sections about trains, cars, planes and machinery.
You can get great pictures and also learn interesting facts about the development of all that.
It is also interactive, with places where people can play games, practice being in the pit stop amongst other things.
You need a couple of hours to be able to see everything.
Very fun and entertaining. There is a lot of history here and very educational. The staff in the village are very welcoming and informative about their task on the working farm. The museum had a lot of very interesting cars, planes and other historical facts and items from the past. The only negative thing for today’s venture was a stand in the village was distributing custard to the people in line, but it was melting as it was being handed to the people purchasing it.
Absolutely incredible and exquisite exhibits. Everything is laid out so well you can easily travel from one section to the next, with a smooth transition in-between.
The cases are spaciously laid out as to not be overwhelming. This creates a good flowing atmosphere that keeps you moving and staring at the next item.
There’s a nice cafeteria that you can eat at, but hold on to your tickets. You’ll need them to get back into the museum.
The attendants are wonderful. The place is neat, tidy, and just fun. Definitely take your kids here, your wife, everyone will have something to look at here!
Incredible the history of Ford! It’s a huge museum with lots to see. We didn’t see everything as I think it would take a few days.
The old locomotives were a highlight for me, as well as the cars. The presidential cars was very cool to see.
I’m not a huge fan of racing but I have to admit it was very interesting yo learn about racers as athletes and seeing some powerful racing cars over the years.
Another highlight was the mathematics, airplanes, and furnishings. The doll houses were incredibly beautiful and detailed.
The Walt Disney costumes were also very cool to see up close. If you love fabric and costumes, I highly recommend to see the exhibit. It is only for a short while though.
The food was good, some variety of sandwiches, snack food and entree meal. The ladies who work there were wonderful, very funny, and very helpful. I really enjoyed the experience and hope to go back to see what I missed!
So much to see in the museum. It will take you half a day to read through everything and walk through all the exhibit. Even a quick walk through needs about 3 hours.
You learn so much on automotive, manufacturing, American history and culture, aerospace and Glass !
Love all the massive locomotive engines and massive power generator. They are just massive and beautiful. Train museum is usually outside but it was nice that Henry Ford manage to put these massive engines indoor
It is a must go stop if you are in town
